Kaohsiung is the hub of politics, economics, and transportation in Southern Taiwan, ranked as no. 244 in GaWC (Globalization and World Cities). With the population of 2.77 million, Kaohsiung is also the second largest municipal city in Taiwan. After the formal declaration of the repeal of martial law, various artists mushroomed in Kaohsiung, and successfully led the contemporary art in Southern Taiwan to keep pace with the capital Taipei City. In recent years, art festivals in Kaohsiung, Kaohsiung International Container Arts Festival and Kaohsiung Steel & Iron Sculpture Festival have been listed as one of the most important art activities in the world. Moreover, Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts has also earned its reputation in Taiwanese art. It is the prosperity of art that made Kaohsiung become an Art City.
ART KAOHSIUNG 2013 is co-hosted by Bureau of Cultural Affairs Kaohsiung City Government and Modern Art Association of Kaohsiung, planned and executed by Mr. Richard Hseuh-Kung, CHANG, the ex-director of Taiwan Art Gallery Association. We will not only create an International art fair, but attract collectors around the world to reveal the potential of Southern Taiwan; furthermore, we expect to turn a new page in Taiwanese art industry.
During ART KAOHSIUNG 2013, APCS 2013 (Asia Pacific Cities Summit) is concurrently held in Kaohsiung from 9th to 11th, Sept., which more than 1000 honored guests are invited. ART KAOHSIUNG sincerely welcomes every guest’s presence.
2013 ART KAOHSIUNG EXHIBITORS LIST
Kaohsiung, the municipal city with the second largest population in Taiwan, located in the center of East Asian and Southeast Asian, in 2013, received a “Liveable Communities Award” endorsed by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) ,and is praised as Miami in Taiwan.
ART KAOHSIUNG firstly launched in 2013, with 62 galleries from Taiwan, Japan, and Korea, such as Tomio Koyama Gallery from Japan, Soka Art Center from Tainan and Liang Gallery from Taipei. Joined by the art collectors from northern, middle and southern Taiwan, It has achieved 1.4 million US dollars sales volume and 8000 visitors in 2013 and has become the second largest art fair only next to ART TAIPEI in Taiwan.
In 2014, ART KAOHSIUNG will further invite 80 galleries from Japan, Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, etc., and welcome all guests all over the world with the unique passion in Southern Taiwan in this biggest annual art event.

The 3rd edition of ART KAOHSIUNG in 2015, having gathered every efforts to build up the platform where Southeastern and Northeastern Asian arts converge, will take place during Dec 11th to 13th in Pier-2 Art Center and City Suites, Kaohsiung!
Since its launch in 2013, ART KAOHSIUNG has been cultivating the arts and humanities in Southern Taiwan profoundly, exploring the development of eminent art sections, establishing Kaohsiung Art Forum, and thoroughly organizing the Premium Collector Plan, in the pursuit of further advancing the multilateral cooperative projects among the dynamic art fairs in Asia to comprehensively elevate the development of Kaohsiung Industries.
This year, 2015, ART KAOHSIUNG positions itself as the platform that converges the arts all over the Southeastern and Northeastern Asia with the objective of giving prominence to the regional characteristics and eliminating the borders of arts. The 3rd edition of ART KAOHSIUNG encompasses the passionate participation of 104 galleries and specially designs a series of art journeys for the VIPs to breathe the air of art tenderly permeating in the capital of southern Taiwan.
In the beginning of winter in Taiwan, the 3rd edition ART KAOHSIUNG will present the refined historical traces of arts in southern Taiwan, at the same time, displaying the International art trend, to accomplish this grand art fair in southern Taiwan.

ART KAOHSIUNG, since 2013, has been dedicated to boosting the development of art industry through integrating resources among industries, bureaus and academics, initiating sections of promising vision, and strengthening ties among local art associations. Last edition of ART KAOHSIUNG encompasses 104 eminent galleries from Asia to Europe: Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Vietnam and France, gaining 13,000 visitors and USD 3.6 million sales amount. For now ART KAOHSIUNG has become the benchmark of Taiwanese art fair!
ART KAOHSIUNG, the platform of art in Southeastern and Northeastern Asia, will consistently contribute itself to the diminishment of geographical restrictions of arts and the diversification of art. The two themed exhibitions in 2015 focused on arts in Japan and Malaysia. This year, ART KAOHSIUNG turns the spotlights on Korea and the Philippines; Kaohsiung Art Forum will invite the significant academic unit and art media as the co-hosts, and include the eminent curators and gallerists as keynote speakers. The topics will be centered on the dialogues between art in Southeastern and Northeastern Asia.
